日本タイポグラフィ協会の西部研究会が主催する作品展「TYPE WEST 2026: HAKUカレンダー」に作品参加しました。私は9月のデザインを担当しています。テーマは「サスティナブルな◯◯」。

私が選んだのは、日本が今も抱える持続的な課題——ジェンダーギャップです。サステナブルとは、環境だけでなく、社会の構造や価値観も含めて、未来へ健やかに引き継いでいくことだと考えています。その中で、女性として、そしてデザイナーとして、声を上げ続けること。女性に投票し、女性を応援すること。それが、私にとってのサステナブルな実践です。

9月の「9」という数字を、クオータ制に一票を投じる瞬間のイメージとしてデザインしました。数字そのものを“投票の意思”として可視化することで、小さな行動が社会の構造を変える力を持つことを表現しています。背景には箔を網点のように配置し、光によって浮かび上がるレイヤーを構築しました。
それは、これまで見えにくかった声や存在が、光を受けて確かにそこにあると示す姿を重ねています。持続可能な社会とは、誰かが我慢し続ける社会ではなく、誰もが選択し、参加できる社会。この9月は、未来への一票を込めたデザインです。

I am participating in TYPE WEST 2026: HAKU Calendar, an exhibition organized by the West Japan Study Group of the Japan Typography Association. I am responsible for the design for September. The theme of this edition is Sustainable ◯◯.

The issue I chose to address is the gender gap, an ongoing and deeply rooted challenge in Japan. To me, sustainability is not limited to environmental concerns; it also encompasses social structures and systems of values that must be carried forward in a healthy and equitable way. As a woman and as a designer, I believe in continuing to raise my voice. Voting for women and supporting women is my personal sustainable practice.

The number 9 for September is designed to represent the act of casting a vote for a gender quota system. By visualizing the number itself as an expression of voting intention, the work conveys how small individual actions can shift social structures.

Foil is applied in a halftone-like pattern in the background, creating layers that emerge and shift with light. This effect reflects voices and presences that have long been less visible, now illuminated and undeniably present.

A sustainable society is not one in which someone must continue to endure in silence, but one in which everyone has the ability to choose and to participate. This September design carries a vote for the future.
